Myra Shapiro
Myra Shapiro is an experienced litigator and dedicated advocate for children and survivors of domestic violence, specializing in areas concerning child abuse, sex crimes, and Family Law.
A former member, Myra is an esteemed alumnus of the Attorneys for Children/Assigned Counsel Panel, where she passionately represented children and indigent adults in Queens Family Court. Her professional journey spans various impactful roles, including her tenure as the Senior Director of the Queens Child Advocacy Center (QCAC) from 2003 to 2010. In this role, she oversaw a facility-based, multi-disciplinary program providing vital investigative and treatment services to victims of child sexual and physical abuse along with their non-offending family members.
Before her leadership at QCAC, Myra dedicated years to prosecuting juvenile delinquency cases for the NYC Law Department, Office of Corporation Counsel, Family Court Division. Her career commenced with prosecuting child abuse and neglect cases from 1986 to 1990.
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Myra was among the pioneering females to attend the esteemed Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan. She earned her BA from SUNY Binghamton and her JD from SUNY Buffalo Law School. Myra shares a law practice with her husband and partner, Christopher Renfroe, since 2010. Their office serves as a professional space and is shared with their son, Eric Renfroe, who is making strides in the legal profession.
